Technical School Award Application

Application Guidelines:
The Technical School Award recognizes individuals entering technical school who
demonstrate exceptional technical aptitude, problem-solving skills, leadership, and a
passion for a technical or trade career. This award supports and celebrates their
commitment to technical education and innovation. Applicants must meet all criteria and
provide data indicated to be eligible. Incomplete applications or data requirements will
not be considered. All materials become the property of LPSCU and will not be returned.
LPSCU reserves the right to publish applicants’ essays, at its own discretion, in its
official publication, Morning Star.

Eligibility Requirements:
• Must be a member of LPSCU for two (2) years with a $2,000 permanent reserve
life insurance plan (excluding term insurance).
• Must be at least 17 years old and above.
• Must provide two letters of recommendation from individuals familiar with the
applicant’s technical abilities, work ethic, and character.
• Attend a technical school on a full-time/part time basis for the academic year.
• Submit a brief essay (no more than 250 words) on the topic: Why you chose
technical/trade education as your career path?
• Provide a digital or hard copy, wallet-size, head shot, color photo.
• Submit proof of acceptance.
• Application must be postmarked by April 30th.
The recipient of the Technical School Award will receive $500. No individual shall be
eligible to receive the award more than two times.
